We are thrilled to announce that we met & exceeded our goal for the 38 elephants! These magnificent beings will continue living chain free in their beautiful, lush natural habitat of the Om Koi & Mae Sarieng forests. ALL additional money raised will be going towards helping 100's of more captive elephants who's owners are asking for our help.
Exciting news regarding 18 of these elephants!! See "Current Projects" Gentle Giants Evolution - Om Koi - November, 2021 - or click on top right corner button
38 elephants, living in Om Koi & Mae Sarieng forests (near the Myanmar boarder), who have been living chain and cruelty free since Covid-19 hit, are now being threatened of being sold; the older elephants into the logging industry and their babies to Chinese circuses & other unethical tourist attractions. The owners have reached out to the Gentle Giants asking for immediate help, in their desperate financial need. After weeks of conversation, ensuring compliance of our terms and conditions, all owners have agreed to embrace the Gentle Giants Elephant Stay Home Project policies. We need a minimum of two months worth of mahout wages and elephant food. We need your help to raise $30,500 within a weeks time; in order to confirm to the owners that we are able to accepted them into our project. We are extremely grateful to our partners, World Animal News and Peace 4 Animals, for offering the first $5000.00 to be matched. Let's all come together to protect these beautiful babies from being ripped from their mothers loving reach and subjected to horrors of the 'crush' (phajaan). At the same time, protecting their mothers and the juveniles from being sold into the violent and brutal logging industry. Together we can keep them home.
