Kham Saen is a male Asian elephant, born 2018. He was born at Thung Ton Ngew, small village far south of Chiang Mai, to Mue Mue. His "job" was to follow her mother, Mue Mue, as she carried sacks of rice back to back for villagers. They hired Mue Mue around 5-10 THB per round. But now they use car instead. After they left the village, the owner moved to follow her mother, who worked in a trekking elephant camp at Mae Wang. The owner then moved back to Thung Ton Ngew again, and Mue Mue and baby Kham Saen became part of the Gentle Giants family; enabling them both to roam in the lush forest. Then tragedy struck and Mue Mues best friend died from pesticide poisoning. Mue Mue, began nursing & taking care of her friends baby, Par Gae Mae. Kham Saen had to be separated from his mother. Kham Saen was already 3 years old. He was just too big for Par Gae Meh. If we were to have put them together the baby could of gotten hurt. And, baby Par Gae Mae was so stricken with grief Mue Mue could not leave his side.
Many months later Mue Mue, was reunited with her baby boy. (Photo: Mue Mue & baby Kham Saen) Then we learned baby Par Gae Meh had been sold and the owners of Om Koi informed us that they planned to sell the baby elephants. They had all suffered too much loss already, so we began rescue efforts.
On 4/26/23 our sweet baby boy, Kham Saen was rescued and moved to Elephant Highlands; were he has not one, but three adoring nannies. Mae Pond, in particular, has blossomed, her heart still healing after loosing baby Hansa. Mae Pond has taken baby Kham Saen under her wing. We know Kham Saen's heart is heavy and sad. Our partner, Lek Chailert, is still trying to negotiate to rescue his mother. For now, we want to give him as much love as we possibly can.
Baby Kham Saen's first steps to his beautiful and wonderful life at first at Elephant Highlands and then to a huge piece of land. It took our partner & friend Darrick 1 hour to get him into the truck. It hasn't been easy. But he's in best hands. They have been traveling since 8:30 am Thai time.
Unfortunately, we won't be getting live videos as it is very windy, although the sky's are clear, it is getting hot. Darrick and team have sprayers to keep the gentle ones cool. Selan covers are available in case it gets too hot. For now everything is going smoothly!
Please continue to surround Darrick, the team and the gentle ones with the most beautiful protective light your hearts and souls can.
It was impossible to keep the beautiful 3 away from Kham Saen. If he was not let out, they would bring the shelter down. They insisted and insisted everything would be alright, and so the happy reunion happened! The welcoming has been so loving, happy ears, happy but soft squeaks, and lots of touching.
As you can see, they have surrounded him in a very protective way. Slamming their trunks as to say he is staying with us, keep away. What a moment!! Are you happy crying?! We are not. It's a piece of dirt bothering our eyes. Your donations and support made this happen. We take pride in knowing in our hearts that we really try to change these beautiful lives. Love Wins.
P.S. the baby has a drag chain on for his own safety. We don't know if he will start running or if something happens the mahouts need to be able to get a hold of him. The chain will of course come off once he enters his chain free shelter.
Mho Go Nar & Baby Jun rescued July, 2024. Mho Go Nar had been a loving nanny to Baby Par Gae Meh and Kham Saen, and a best friend to Kham Saen's mama, Mue Mue, at Om Koi.
Mae Pond had already met Baby Jun and Mama Mho Go Nar, but this time she brought her baby boy for introductions. Witness the heartwarming moment when Mho Go Nar and Kham Saen recognize each other. Mho Go Nar immediately reaches out to her little one, instinctively knowing who he is. Baby Kham Saen, fearful of losing Mae Pond's love, tries to pull her away. It's understandable—this baby boy has already endured so much.
With time and the combined love of Mae Pond and Mho Go Nar, he will come to understand that he hasn't lost anything but has instead gained even more love.

Listen to their beautiful conversation, feel the rumbles and squeaks in your heart. This is a symphony of love, hope, and healing. These two mamas, who have endured immense loss and carry the burden of broken hearts, are now brought together to comfort each other, to heal together, and to build the family they have both been dreaming of.

This is an extremely urgent situation, and we need to act quickly to save Baby Kham Saen.
We have only one week to raise $37,000 USD before he is offered for sale publicly.
We need your help to rescue Baby Kham Saen, a 4-year-old tiny giant from Om Koi, who is being put up for sale. He faces the worst possible fate - a life of slavery in the logging industry. We know that if others become aware we won't stand a chance. Owners are being offered large sums of money for any little one.
Sadly, They have already separated the baby from Mue Mue to get him ready to become a slave.
We are working tirelessly to save Baby Kham Saen and reunite him with his mother, Mue Mue. Our partner and friend, Lek Chaillert, is doing everything possible to ensure that we can buy both mother and son so that they can be together as they should be. However, time is of the essence, and we must act fast before it is too late for this little one.
We plan to build a provisional shelter to bring him home as soon as possible. Building a permanent shelter for a bull elephant is a time-consuming and expensive process, and we cannot afford to wait that long.
We plan to take him to Elephant Highlands, where he will be cared for by Mae Pond, who lost her own baby Hansa some years ago. Along with Kham Paeng and Nom Pop, Mae Pond will act as his nannies until we can reunite him with Mue Mue. If unfortunately Mue Mue is not granted her freedom, we hope that in time Mae Pond will unleash her motherly love on this little one and finally she can too heal from her broken heart.
Please join us in this urgent rescue mission and help save Baby Kham Saen from a life of slavery. Your donation, no matter how small, will make a significant difference. Together, we can give this innocent little one the chance to live a happy and healthy life.
The actual amount that was needed to rescue Baby Kham Saen was 41K thanks to our rescue fund we now need 37K.

Love Wins GG Family! Baby Kham Saen will be FREE!!!
Your beautiful hearts and amazing generosity has helped change Kham Saen's fate and given him the opportunity for a bright future filled with love and care.
In less than 30 hours we were able to raise the funds needed to make baby Kham Sean part of our family!! Now the rescue to get him to his new FOREVER loving home begins! Our partner and friends Darrick and Lek will get everything ready to welcome this tiny giant to Elephant Highlands! Saengduean Lek Chailert.
Lek and Darrick: Thank you, for offering him this safe haven where he will to grow up to be the majestic being he was meant to be!
Words cannot express the emotion we feel when we think that Mae Pond will have the opportunity to once again love a baby as her own. She, Kham Paeng and Nong Pop will care for our little one while we continue working hard towards also rescuing Mue Mue.
The additional funds received will be set aside for her possible rescue. We are praying to be able to reunite this baby and mama.
Once again, we have proven that we are a small but a very powerful family! Together we stand strong and make miracles happen.
THANK YOU FOR MAKING THIS A REALITY - GG Family, you have sowed the seed of freedom in baby Kham Saen's life, and it has grown an orchard of appreciation and gratitude in our hearts.
So, from the bottom of these very joyful hearts, we thank you, and appreciate all you have done for this beautiful tiny giant. Your generosity has given us new hope.
We will keep everyone updated on the progress of this happy rescue. In the meantime give yourselves three cheers for being amazing.
Love & light,
Colby & Diana
After speaking with our partner and friend Saengduean Lek Chailert if all goes as planned, baby Kham Saen will be moved mid April. Until then, baby Kham Saen will stay in our chain free shelter at Om Koi. Where we will be able to keep an eye on his well-being.
Our partners and friends Saengduean Lek Chailert & Darrick have been working hard to repair the shelter where baby Kham Saen will stay in at Elephant Highlands.
Mae Pond, Kham Paeng, and Nong Pop will have access to seeing him, and they will be able to interact, but there still has to be a protective barrier between them until we know how everyone will react We are very hopeful that the 3 ladies will receive the baby with open arms. We think Mae Pond will be very loving to this little one. The last time any of them had to care for a baby was when baby Hansa lived. The void she left is very big. Mae Pond, obviously being baby Hansa's mother is who has suffered the most. But now we hope baby Kham Saen will help heal her broken heart.
We wish we could tell you that Mue Mue will be reunited with her little one, but despite our greatest efforts, the owner refuses to sell her. All we can say is that we won't give up. We will continue trying to reunite them.
This is just the first phase to secure baby Kham Saen's forever, healthy, and happy life. He is 4 now, so we must start building his forever large home before he turns into a big handsome bull. More about that coming soon.
For now, we continue preparing for his arrival!! We are over the moon.
