The future of Maliwan and Mae Koy is to stay FOREVER at Elephant Nature Park. We just couldn't be happier. Maliwan and Mae Koy have been the happiest there, no doubt about it. They have strong bonds with Yindee's family, have made new friends. And love each other above all.
After our friend and partner Lek Chailert reached out to GG to see if we would help these two beautiful ones; you, our amazing family jumped right in to help. The building of their new home in Surin, Gentle Giants Providence began. We happily and loving saw everything come together, we dreamed of seeing them living at Gentle Giants Providence peacefully. But the universe in it's infinite wisdom and love had other plans..... As the weeks passed Lek became aware of the true intentions the owner had. She was planning to sell Mae Koy. Leaving Maliwan alone with a broken heart. Lek just couldn't allow this so the negotiations began to keep both at ENP forever. At the same time we received news of the terrible suffering other gentle ones were enduring. Starvation and chains were all they had. We were scrambling to figure out how to help. What could be done.... Their suffering is so heartbreaking they even made the news. Well, with the news that Maliwan and Mae Koy will be staying at ENP the space to help and rescue the suffering became available at Gentle Giants Providence in Surin.
Gentle Giants Providence will be receiving some who have never known kindness nor compassion only terrible suffering! Stay tuned for more happy news to come.

We have just a week and a half to build Mae Koy & Maliwan's new home.
Mae Koy and Maliwan, who may be pregnant, have been living at Elephant Nature Park for some time because they were starving and in terrible condition. Now, that they are better, the owner wants to return to Surin, taking them back to a life of slavery.
Thankfully, our partner, Lek Chailert, was able to convince him to allow them to continue living with freedom and dignity. The owner still wants to return to his home in Surin and wants to have Mae Koy and Maliwan there in the same city he's in.
Gentle Giants stepped in to help. We are now leasing land and building these 2 a new home. However, we don't have much time. The owner was demanding they be moved last week, but we are in the process of cleaning the land up and preparing a budget that includes; fencing, a chain-free shelter, roof repairs on existing structure, kitchen repairs, mahout accommodations, etc. We need to raise $25,000 USD.
We want to make it very clear that these gentle ones will not be under their owner's care. Lek will pick 2 mahouts herself who will live on site & care for these 2 gentle giants.
Additionally, this piece of land will be able to house approximately 20 elephants. For now it will be the home of Mae Koy, Maliwan and her unborn baby, but we hope that in the near future we will be able to bring and help other gentle ones. GG's location in Surin will follow ENP's model; all shelter's will be chain-free to ensure the gentle one's housed here will live with dignity, autonomy, and compassion.
