Gentle Giants Nonprofit is a NGO developed, founded and led by two women in the United States, in order to protect the endangered Asian Elephant, Elephas maximus; support of Thailand's indigenous peoples & communities; the preservation of Thailand's forests; and conservation of the environment.
Gentle Giants Elephants original primary mission was to help those starving and suffering during Covid_19. When we launched in June, 2020, we had many hopes and dreams, but not in a million years did we ever think we would be able to help so many gentle ones, as well as many human families. We have had over 165 elephants under our care over the last three years. Plus, we have helped farmers, construction workers, and countless human families through our projects.
Diana & Colby have both been strong, long time advocates for animals/elephants. They have both helped & supported numerous organizations in the elephant community.
Diana's dear friend Lek Chailert approached her, when the Covid crisis hit Thailand, asking how we could help 100's of captive elephants & their human families which were forced to walk back home as tourism came to a screeching halt. The elephants were starving as their was no income to feed them. Hence, Gentle Giants Elephants was born. You can learn more here

After 3 years, Gentle Giants Elephants is spreading their wings and is embarking on a thrilling new chapter to help any and all gentle giants in need!
This marks the growth of our planted seed. It embodies the very essence of our wildest dreams for all our gentle beings; with continued support in Thailand and an electrifying new initiative in Africa!
While our dedication persists for the elephants in Thailand, envision tiny orphaned African gentle giants who are NOW in DESPERATE need of baby formula to live; transforming into the majestic beings they were destined to be. We're not merely guiding them; we're actively participating in their survival! With a commitment that knows no bounds, we'll nurture these gentle giants to strength, wisdom, and maturity. And when that day comes, they shall be RE-WILD, set free to revel in their true essence as magnificent elephants. They'll roam across the vast African savanna, sowing the seeds of their legacy.
In the future, as they stand face to face with their own progeny, a thriving circle of life in the African wilderness, let it be known that we, the GG Family played a pivotal role in their journey. We dared to step up in their time of need, and now, they're flourishing, wild, and free.
This is not just a new adventure; it's an epic tale of liberation, transformation, of spreading our growing wings and the enduring bond we share with these incredible beings in Africa.

Asian and African Elephant conservation.
GG will continue to work in collaboration with elephant owners of captive elephants, and their local communities, in finding a more harmonious and peaceful coexistence with the gentle ones and enabling the mahouts (caretakers) to earn a decent living to support their families. GG will continue helping create opportunities where elephants can stay and thrive in their own habitats, sanctuaries or other ethical, humane projects living in harmony with nature. Benefiting not only the elephants, the mahouts but also their communities.
GG will support African orphans who will one day return to the wild and carry on their own legacy. Helping mitigate human/elephant conflict, as well as protect the livelihood of Africa's wildlife.
Our Nonprofit will always be willing to work with anyone who is wanting to better the living conditions of their communities while protecting the well - being and natural habitats of the elephants.

"Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton invited Lek to Washington, DC in 2010 to honor her as one of six Women Heroes of Global Conservation. But, the accolades do not end there. Lek was named one of Time Magazine’s Heroes of Asia for her work in conservation in 2005 and the Ford Foundation’s “Hero of the Planet” in 2001.
Lek has earned honorary degrees from Rajabhat Chiang Mai University Finally, The National Geographic documentary Vanishing Giants, highlighting Lek’s work with the Asian elephant, was recognized by the Humane Society of the United States with the Genesis Award in 2003.
Today, Lek continues to be at the forefront of elephant (and other animal rights causes), raising international awareness and encouraging other countries in the region to follow her lead, as well as helping provide sustainable alternatives to local villages. At the same time, she maintains special relationships with the animals she rescues. Most days, she can be found at Elephant Nature Park spending time with the rescued herd." ~ SEF
We are extremely grateful and humbled by this recognition. It literally took us by surprise. We never expected to win such a meaningful award being the very young organization we are. We are thankful to all those who voted for us!
Mostly, we are thankful to YOU, our GG family for your continued support. It is thanks to you that we are able to help all these gentle beings!
A very special thank you to our amazing friend and supporter Tina Papadopoulou who so graciously received the award on our behalf.
