Gentle Giants Nonprofit is a NGO developed, founded and led by two women; for the protection of the endangered species Elephas maximus; support of Thailand's indigenous peoples & communities; the preservation of Thailand's forests; and conservation of the environment.
Diana & Colby have both been strong, long time advocates for animals/elephants. They have both helped & supported numerous organizations in the elephant community.
Diana's dear friend Lek Chailert approached her, when the Covid crisis hit Thailand, asking how we could help 100's of captive elephants & their human families which were forced to walk back home as tourism came to a screeching hault. The elephants were starving as their was no income to feed them. Hence, Gentle Giants was born. You can learn more here
To help awaken sleeping hearts and minds, to give captive elephants a better way of life, while systematically helping their mahouts (caretakers) find a new, profitable, ethical & humane way of living with elephants.
Our focus is currently in Thailand, but our intention is to one day help elephants world-wide.

By helping create opportunities where elephants can stay and thrive in their own habitats, sanctuaries or other ethical, humane projects living in harmony with nature. Benefiting not only the elephants, the mahouts but also their communities.
Our Nonprofit will always be willing to work with anyone who is wanting to better the living conditions of their communities while protecting the well - being and natural habitats of the elephants.

"Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton invited Lek to Washington, DC in 2010 to honor her as one of six Women Heroes of Global Conservation. But, the accolades do not end there. Lek was named one of Time Magazine’s Heroes of Asia for her work in conservation in 2005 and the Ford Foundation’s “Hero of the Planet” in 2001.
Lek has earned honorary degrees from Rajabhat Chiang Mai University Finally, The National Geographic documentary Vanishing Giants, highlighting Lek’s work with the Asian elephant, was recognized by the Humane Society of the United States with the Genesis Award in 2003.
Today, Lek continues to be at the forefront of elephant (and other animal rights causes), raising international awareness and encouraging other countries in the region to follow her lead, as well as helping provide sustainable alternatives to local villages. At the same time, she maintains special relationships with the animals she rescues. Most days, she can be found at Elephant Nature Park spending time with the rescued herd." ~ SEF
